US Airport & US Bound Aircraft Security Measures
Following the attempt on Christmas Day 2009 to blow up an airliner as it it approched Detroit International Airoirt security measures security measures on domestic American flights and international flights to the US have been increased. Some of these measures are also being applied to flights outside the US.
The most ' publically profiled' of these measures is the requirement for passengers to undergo total body x-ray screening before boarding a plane. The scanners for these x-rays are widely used in the United States and are being introduced as a matter of priority at airports elsewhere in the world.
The scanners reveal every aspect of the human physique and are operated by technicians by procedures which respect the privacy of those being x-rayed. Anyone of any age, without exception, may be required to undergo this scanning. Refusal by anyone to be scanned will almost certainly result in their being refused to permission to fly and possible detention by the security services.
