China Consulate & Visa Information
All visitors to China require a visa. Applications for a visa must be made at the Chinese Consulate in the country where the applicant normally lives.
Visa Appications
Applications must be made in person. Postal Applications are not accepted. Applicants may authorise a third person to submit the application on their behalf, but may still have to be interviewed by a visa officer if required.
Status Of Visa
You may apply for a tourist visa provided you have a passport that is vaild for six months with a blank visa page.
You must have a standard passport photograph to submit with an application. Digital or copied photographs printed on copy paper are not accepted.

Business Visa
Applications should be accompanied by a fax or letter from one of the following:
A letter of invitation from the a derpatment of the Chinese Government or a Chinese company or a letter of introduction from a United Kingdom Company.
Work Visa
An 'employment permit' issued by the Ministry of Labour & Social Security or the same issued by the State Administration of Foreign Experts.
The permit must be accompanied by an invitation letter from the relevant Department above or a company approved of by the Chinese Government.
Student VIsa
On either form JW-201 or JW-202 which is issued by the Chinese Minsitry Of Education plus a letter confiming admission by the University
Transit Visa
A valid visa for the country of destination is required. Applicants travelling to Tibet must have a permit issued by the Tibetian Tourist Bureau.
Journalist Visa
A letter of invitation from the relevant department of the China Government plus a letter from your employer
