Travelling To & From London City:
6 miles (11 km) to the City of London (Bank) approx. 9 miles (16km) to Central London. LC Is the closest Airport to the main stadiia for the 2012 London Olypmic Games.
Buses: No direct services to the city of London or cental London. Bus 473 connects with rail services at Stratford.
Docklands Light Railway: These services connect with the extensive London Underground network. Generally DLR trains leave LC Airport every 8/ 15 minutes. Canary Wharf is 18 away and Bank 22 minutes away. Important DLR Notes: Tower Gateway is closed until Spring 2009 & Bank Station is undergoing major escalator refurbishment. Passengers especially those with luggage are advised to avoid interchanges here.: Suggested Alternative Route for Central London: Change on to the Jubilee Line at Canning Town. For alternative routes you can ' Plan your journey' at tfl.gov.uk
Taxis: Licensed Taxis operate from LCI. Approximate fares: The City £20, Central London £25- 30 West London £35.00 Ask driver for a quote.
Facilites At London City Airport
A clean airport in all areas with a wide choice of shops and expensive restaurants. There is an abundance of ATM machines, several post boxes and three travelex currency exchange bureaus. There are two 'internet stations - one opposite opposite WH Smith in the terminal concourse. - the other in the Departure Lounge, t in front of Presto. London City Airport Special Needs.
Toilets suitable for disabled customer are available on the main concourse, the Departure Lounge and in the International Arrivals area. Lift access is available from the concourse on the ground floor to the departures level, and from the departure pier to the apron for passenger boarding points.The airport also has a ' Hearing point'. London Heathrow Newsbite: New Heathrow Transit System
BAA, as part of its plan to modernise Heathrow Airport, has started work on phase one of the world’s first Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) System. This unique system will revolutionise the way visitors are transported around the airport.Developed by ATS Ltd and BAA, the system will consist of a fleet of 18 low energy, battery powered, driverless vehicles capable of carrying around four passengers and their luggage along a dedicated guide way.
The system will provide g a quick and comfortable service, with near to no waiting at station. BAA has worked with ATS to customise the PRT system to meet the unique needs of the worlds busiest international airport.
