Budapest has a wide choice of hotels and apartments tailored that together tailor for any budget. These can be found fairly widely across the city though accommodation in the prestigous 'district 1' - the castle district at the top of Castle Hill (the highest part of Budapest) of is limited and thus very expensive. From this area visitors can look down on the Chain Bridge, the Danube and the whole of the Budapest. The view is incredible particularly at night. On the summit of the hill visitors can stay at the Budapest Hilton which apparently has rooms with this view. The hotel which was built in 70's architectually looks out of place in this palatial pinnacle of old Bude especially as it is built amidst the ruins of a 13th century monastery which offer the same view free of charge. If you don't have a head for heights but are looking for a high class hotel on the Pest side of the Danube the central 'district v' other alternatives are The Marriott Hotel or, Kempinski Hotel Corvinus

The centrally situated Domino Top Hostel has gained a good word of mouth reputation amongst backpackers for budget accommodation which is clean convenient and friendly. It has 4 6 8 bedded rooms and will accommodate groups etc. website. The Marco Polo hostel in the centre of town is another fairly priced hostel which is pouplar as it has no lock and has some 2 bedded accommodation as well website
Campsite & Camping In Budapest
The facilities in campsites around Budapest and Hungary vary tremendously and are not always of the standards found in Western Europe. Some camps charge an all in price for your stay whilst other charge you a basic price on top of which you have to pay additional charges for facilities such as showers. Not all camps are suitable for young children as they do not have play areas and some do not have very extensive menus.
A good all round site is Romai Camping at Szentendrei út 189, District 111 Budapest Telephone 368 6260. We think this is the biggest campsite in the region - it facities include a restaurant post office and swimming pool though it has to be said they are not ulta modern. Child friendly and not far from a station if you want to travel the 11km to the central downtown Budapest by train.
Well established in the Bikercamp at Benyovszky Móric utca 4 District V111 Budapest Telephone 333 7059. Bikers from all over Europe can be found here normally in the basement pub! Accomodation is in rooms. Its only 8km from the centre of Budapest which is easily acessed by the nearby Nepliget metro station. 3* but not really suitable for children. Website
The Csillebérci Camping site at Konloly-Thes Miklós u. 21 in District X11 Tel: 275 4033 is a 4 star site about 12 km from the centre of Budapest in the Buda Hills. Closed in the winter - November to March. Long established site, comfortable with lovely surroundings.
