Europeans and visitors to europe often decide that visit a particular region even though they are uncertain on exactly where to go and what they will find when they arrive at their destination. More challenging is the prospect of selecting two or more equally interesting cities to visit on the same trip which is easier to do as low cost airlines facilitate your buying, for example, a single ticket out to Prague and a single ticket back from Budapest or Berlin.
Hopefully the Euromost regional guides will answer these initial questions as each guide identifies the countries and their capital cities in a particular region. However it would be wrong to assume that any two of the cities in the guide are actually close together unless perhaps you are flying from one to another. For example Budapest to Prague can take ten hours by train and train journeys in other parts of Europe - which often take the scenic route between two cities can take for ever. Trains in Romania and Bulgaria can be particularly slow. However on the other hand the intercity train in Germany and the ICE (cross border) services put the airlines to shame when you allow for the time spent travelling to the airport, checking in etc. (Links to the national rail networks of euromost countries can be found here). Each Euromost regional guide samples the main features of each city including its history, sights restaurants etc. All the samples are directly linked to the relevant section of that city guide. As a general rule of thumb the more sightseeing and attraction listed the more interesting the city. However there are notable exceptions to this such as Dubrovnik which has no where the number of architectural attractions that Prague has but is in itself one of the worlds gems and on a coastline aside the Aegean of outstanding natural bueaty.
